Protest gegen Mietmutterschaft / Protest against surrogacy

Am 2. März 2024 haben wir (und einige Stunden zuvor auch FEMEN Germany) in Berlin gegen die sogenannte “Kinderwunschmesse” demonstriert. Der Name dieser Messe verschleiert, dass es sich dabei um eine Werbeveranstaltung für Mietmutterschaft handelt. Die große Mehrheit der Seminar und Aussteller bewerben diese.
Mietmutterschaft ist jedoch eine Menschenrechtsverletzung sowohl gegen die Mutter als auch gegen das Kind. Mietmutterschaft ist eine weitere Form der Kommerzialisierung des Frauenkörpers. Sie ist ein Markt des Menschenhandels und basiert auf patriarchaler Ausbeutung von Frauen. Wohlhabende EuropäerInnen bezahlen Frauen in Armut, um deren Körper und Leben für eine begrenzte Zeit zu mieten und zu kontrollieren. Die Möglichkeit dazu wird auf der Messe offen beworben. Mietmutterschaft ist auf Reproduktion angewandte Prostitution.

On March 2, 2024, we (and FEMEN Germany a few hours earlier) protested against the so-called “Wish for a baby” convention in Berlin. The title of this convention disguises the fact that it is a marketing event for surrogacy. The vast majority of seminars and exhibitors are promoting it.
However, surrogacy is a human rights violation against both the mother and the child. Surrogacy is yet another way of commercializing women’s bodies. It is a market of human trafficking and is based on the patriarchal exploitation of women. Wealthy Europeans pay women in poverty in order to rent and control their bodies and lives for a limited period of time. The opportunity for this is openly advertised at the convention. Surrogacy is prostitution applied to reproduction.
